2013 SPACE CAMP SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

Alexander Beckerink lives in Lakewood, New York with his parents Lisa and Randy Beckerink and is a junior at Southwestern Central School.  He is an honor student and a member of the swim team.  Alex raced soap box derby cars in his spare time and was the top point earner in the Masters Division at the All American Soap Box Derby race in 2012 held in Akron, Ohio.  This will be his 3rd trip to Space Camp where he is looking forward to the Aviation Challenge.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

2013-2_001Rebecca Banach lives in Dunkirk, New York with her parents David and Rosemary Banach and is a freshman at Dunkirk High School. She is a member of the JROTC and the Dunkirk Civil Air Patrol Squadron.  Rebecca is also very active in sports.  She attended Space Camp last year on here own and is glad to win a scholarship to go back this year.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


2013-3Cassandra Bull lives in Lakewood, New York with her family. She has a son in College and her daughter attends Southwestern High School. She is employed by the Frederick A. Larson Law office as a secretary and office manager. She has always been interested in outer space and will attend the three day adult course.
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


2013-5Clayton Hanson lives in Jamestown with his parents Todd(to his left) and Barbara Hanson and is a junior at Southwestern Central School.  He is the class president and a member of the cross country team.  He is a 2nd lt in the Jamestown Civil Air Patrol Squadron and a member of the Jamestown Rifle Team. Clayton aspires to be a pilot and will attend the Pilot Course. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


2013-6Stanley "Michael" Johnson has received the Ted Moll Flight Scholarship for three consecutive years, which is given through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation. He is in his third year at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, majoring in Air Traffic Management. He is on the Dean's List and plans to graduate in December 2014.  Michael earned his private pilot's license when he was 17 years old and he also has Instrument and Sea Plane Ratings. He is the third generation of pilots in his family!
 
When he is not attending school, Michael is employed by the Lakewood YMCA and Chautauqua Institution.   He enjoys skiing and playing tennis and pickleball.
